** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by cutting the Color 1  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strip into four 2-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonally to make eight half square triangles...

Next cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares. Then cut the Color 2  3-1/4" square in half on both diagonals to make four quarter square triangles...

Now cut the Color 3  2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip into two 2-7/8" squares. Stack these squares and cut them once on the diagonally to make four half square triangles. Cut the Color 3  2-1/2" x 12-1/2" strip into five 2-1/2" squares...

Using a 1/4" seam allowance, sew Color 3 half square triangles to the left and right of two Color 2  2-1/2" squares. Press seams towards the square...

Sew the remaining two Color 2  2-1/2" squares and one Color 3  2-1/2" square together to form the second unit shown at left. Press seams to the outside...

Now sew the two half square-and-square units to the top and bottom of the 3-squares unit...

Add the Color 2 quarter square triangles to the corners...on to Page 2!
