Using the templates provided cut eight small squares
from Color 1 and Color 2 2" x 16" strips... |
Using the triangle template cut twenty triangles
from the Color 2 6-1/2" x 16-1/2" rectangle... |
Using the large square template cut one square from
the Color 1 3-1/2" square ... |
Next speed piece the half
squares. Stacking the Color 1 and Color 2 4-7/8" x
9-3/4" strips, right sides together. On
the back of the top strip, lightly mark the 4-7/8" square line
and mark the diagonals as shown at left. Now sew a
SCANT 1/4" above and below the marked diagonals, pivoting
at the square line. Now cut apart on the diagonals, and on
the 4-7/8" square line. This will give you four half squares.
Press seam allowances towards the dark side. Trim these back to
measure 4-1/2" if needed... |
Using a scant 1/4" seam allowance sew together
pairs of small squares into four patches. Press seams to darker
sides. Make four units like this... |
Add Color 2 triangles to opposing sides of the four
patches, pressing seams to the four patch. Add triangles to
the other two sides. Make four units like this. Trim
these back to measure 4-1/2" if needed... |
In the same manner, sew triangles to all four
sides of the Color 1 larger square. Trim this
back to measure 4-1/2" if needed...
