Pieces and Sewing the Block ** |

First cut the Color 1 2-1/2" x 26" strip into four 2-1/2" x 6-1/2" rectangles... |
|
|
Next cut the Color 1 2-7/8" x
23" strip into eight 2-7/8" squares. Stack and cut these again on the diagonal to
make sixteen half square triangles... |
|
|
Now cut the Color 2 4-7/8" x 19-1/2" strip into four 4-7/8" squares. Stack and cut these again on the diagonal
to make eight half square triangles... |

|
Then cut the Color 3 2 -/2" x 32-1/2" strip into thirteen 2-1/2"
squares... |
|
|
Sew a Color 1 half square triangle to the right side
of a Color 3 2-1/2" square. Make eight of these, pressing seam allowances
towards the darker fabrics. Now sew another Color 1 half square triangle to another Color
3 square, and another Color 1 triangle to it's opposite side, following the diagram at
left for orientation. Make four units like this... |

Then sew a triangle/ square /triangle unit to the
triangle/square unit, pressing seam towards bottom unit. Add another triangle/ square unit
to the bottom of that, pressing the seam allowance towards the top. Make four of these
units... |

Sew a Color 2 half square triangle to either side of
the previously made units, pressing seams towards the Color 2 triangles. Make four of
these...on to Page 2! |
