This makes an 8" block and is a great one for beginners !

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

 

 

Start by cutting the Color 1  4-1/2" x 9" strip into two 4-1/2" squares...

 

Now make the two half squares by stacking the Color 2 and Color 3  4-7/8" squares right sides together. On the back of the top square, draw in the diagonal. Sew a scant 1/4" on each side of that drawn line. Cut apart ON the drawn line and press the two resulting half squares seams to the darker side. Trim to measure 4-1/2"...

Now piece the block by sewing two horizontal rows, pressing towards the Color 1 square. Sew the rows together to complete the block! ...on to Page 2!
