** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 20" strips into eight 2-1/2" squares from each strip. Cut the Color 1  2-1/2" x 10" strip into four 2-1/2" squares...

Sew the Color 1 and Color 2  1-1/2" x 24" strips right sides together along one long edge, using a scant 1/4" seam now and throughout the block making process. Press to dark side. Cut at 1-1/2" intervals into sixteen pieced sections. Sew these together in pairs to make eight four patch units...

Cut the Color 1 and Color 2  2-7/8" x 11-1/2" strips into four 2-7/8" squares of each. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal to make eight half square triangles of each. Sew the triangles together in pairs to make eight half squares. Press seams to darker side. Trim to measure 2-1/2" if needed...

Now, lay out all the units we have made as shown at far left, and make two of each of the blocks shown at left ...now on to Page 2!
