Christmas Quilt 2004 - Page 4

Now lay out all of the block's units as shown at left. Sew three horizontal rows, pressing rows in alternating directions. Join the rows to complete one block! Make a total of twelve blocks for the whole quilt! If you will be making the whole quilt, read on!

** Making the Sashings and Borders **

To make the sashing units, sew small Color 1 squares to the ends of Color 4  3-1/2" x 12-1/2" strips (In the same manner that you sewed small squares to the ends of the rectangle and Flying Geese units above, but with TWO squares on each end!) You need 31 of those units...

You also need  to make eighteen more Flying Geese units...

...Make four more Corner units-two in each direction...

** Now for the Borders **

Sew together four sets of Color 1 and Color 4  2" end-to-end paired strips. Two of these sets can be cut to 51-1/2" in length, or leave a bit longer and trim to length to match YOUR quilt top...and two should be cut to 66-1/2", or again, leave them a bit long and trim to the exact length you need...      ...on to Page 5!
