This makes an easy 10" block !

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Start by marking and cutting the Color 1  3" x 14" strip into four 3" x 3-1/2" rectangles...

Next mark and cut the Color 2  3" x 14" strip into four 3" x 3-1/2" rectangles. Mark and cut the Color 2  1-1/2" x 6" strip into four 1-1/2" squares...

Now mark and cut the Color 3  3" x 11" strip into four 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" rectangles. Mark and cut the Color 3  1-1/2" x 6" strip into four 1-1/2" squares...

Then mark and cut the Color 4  3" x 11" strip into four 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" rectangles...

 Sew the Color 1 and Color 2 rectangles right sides together in pairs, using a scant 1/4" seam. Press seams to darker side. Make four units like this...

Place a small Color 2 square right sides together and edges lined up with the left end of a Color 3 rectangle. Draw a line on the back of the small square in the direction sown at left and sew on this marked line. Cut off the excess seam allowance, pressing the remainder towards the rectangle. Make four units like this. Make four more in the same manner using the Color 4 rectangles and the Color 3 squares...on to Page 2!
