This makes a 12" block !

** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block ** 

First cut the Color 1  1-1/2" x 17" strip into eight 1-1/2" x 1-3/4" rectangles and two 1-1/2" squares...

 

Then cut the Color 2  1-1/2" x 24" strip into eight 1-1/2" x 3" rectangles. Cut the Color 2  1-1/2" x 17" strip into eight 1-1/2" x 1-3/4" rectangles and two 1-1/2" squares...

 

 

Sew the Color 1 and Color 2  1-1/2" x 1-3/4" rectangles right sides together , end -to-end, in pairs. Press to dark sides. Make eight units like this...

 

Stack and cut the Color 1 and Color 3-3/8" x 27" strips into eight 3-3/8" squares of each. Keeping them paired, draw in the diagonal line lightly on the back of the top square and stitch 1/4" away from the draw line, on each side of it. Cut apart on the drawn line between the rows of stitching. Press seams to dark side. Repeat with all square pairs to make a total of sixteen half squares. Trim each to measure 3" if needed...

 

Sew two of the units shown at left...on to Page 2!
