This makes a 12" block, and is paper pieced!

The first thing that I would recommend that you do, is go to the Practice Paper Piecing Page.  When you feel comfy with paper piecing, come on back and try the Arkansas Traveler Variation! You will need to print eight copies of the unit needed per block you want to make on very lightweight paper. A Fat Quarter of each fabric should be ample!

After you have paper pieced the units you will need, join them as shown at left using all SCANT 1/4" seams, and alternating pressing directions with each addition. There you go!...one Arkansas Traveler Variation!

The quilt shows several Arkansas Traveler Blocks interspersed with striped spacer blocks, and the whole quilt is then surrounded by three thin border strips.

Happy Quilting!
