** Preparing the Pieces and Sewing the Block **

Using the templates provided cut out the shapes shown at left from a 10" square of Color 1...

Cut the Color 2  4-7/8" square in half once diagonally to make two half square triangles. Cut the Color 2  2-7/8" x 5-3/4" strip into two 2-7/8" squares. Stack these and cut them once on the diagonal t make four half square triangles. Cut the Color 2  2-1/2" x 5" strip into two 2-1/2" squares...

Next, we will inset the Color 2 corner squares, starting along one side as shown at left. Use a scant 1/4"  seam allowance and sew to within 1/4"of the edge of the square. Backstitch....KEEP YOUR NEEDLE DOWN and fold and pivot the square, bringing it up to match the other un-sewn side of the inner corner. Stitch with a scant 1/4" seam. Repeat this to set in the opposing corner square...( If you have to take your needle out to get it to line up right, that's okay, just be sure to start sewing at that same 1/4" point, and not to catch any of your extra fabric in your next seam) ...
