The Another Links Border needs to be
made at a width divisible evenly by four, and because there will be
many pieces, you probably don't want it TOO narrow! A good border
width would be a finished 8", with each section within it
being a finished 2"...It is pieced as shown at left, ... and
consists of half squares, and quarter-half squares. HOW to
make these is shown below, left. |
|
To make half square units: Half
square triangles are cut from squares 7/8" LARGER than the
finished size of your desired pieced square. Sew opposite colored
half square triangles together using a scant 1/4" seam. Press
to dark side. |
|
To make quarter-half square
units: Cut half square triangles as done above, PLUS...Quarter
square triangles are cut from squares 1-1/4" LARGER than the
finished size of your desired pieced square. Sew pairs of quarter
square triangles together using a scant 1/4: seam. Press to dark
side. Add a half square unit to that. (* Note...if you used a
bright red quarter square triangle, you will sewn on a DARK red
half square triangle, and vice versa) |
EXAMPLE: For a finished
8" wide Another Links border...cut the half square triangles from
2- 7/8" squares, and cut the quarter square triangles from 3- 1/4"
squares.

Here's an idea for the corner of an
Another Links border! Note that two DIFFERENT units are needed to do
this...one quarter-half square that is 1/2 bright red, and 1/4"
each bright red and dark red...AND one square that is made of two
bright red half square triangles.
